The internet is the world’s largest interlinked network of computer systems. It allows users to transmit and receive data digitally, across the network system. The concept of data transmission on a worldwide scale has opened the doors to many possibilities. Millions of people use the internet everyday to research information, purchase products, social media (facebook, myspace, twitter, instagram, tumblr,) or for other purposes. The millions of users connected to the internet can broadcast their data from their computer to the network, which provides the user with a limitless field of information and educational resources. The internet has revolutionized the communications of the world and has made a huge impact for everyone.
Originally, the internet was developed under a government funded project called Advanced Research Project Agency (ARPANET), in late 1962. It was directed by members of Massachusetts Institute Technology (MIT), who saw great potential in the ability of transmitting data across a global network system. Their intentions were to design a system that would enable the sharing of information on research, development on scientific aspects and provide an alternative communication network. In 1973, the United States Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) initiated a research program to investigate techniques and technologies for interlinking packet networks of various kinds, which later expanded to other governmental agencies and to higher education.…
