The internet has been one of the most important innovations in history since the design of the wheel, it has the ability to provide information in matter of seconds and has revolutionized the way of learning. With that being said, in the 21st century children are vulnerable with the accessibility of the world wide web on a daily basis. The internet has positive and negative effects on children in many different ways, it could either be use for obtaining new information or create an unmanageable addiction. The internet and social media provide children an infinite amount of opportunities that would help them assist in learning institutions, studies show that “Engaging in various forms of social media benefit children and adolescents by enhancing communication, social connection, and even technical skills” (O’keeffe & Clarke-Pearson 2011). In other words, the internet is in fact helping children improve their fine motor skills and social developments which improves performance results. In Fact, numerous of young adults prefer working in online webs than the traditional classroom, the study states “Middle and high school students are using social media to connect with one another on homework and group projects.
