I found the intelligent hospital pavilion video very interesting. There is a lot more, technology can help us with besides the machines that we see daily at the hospital. For instance, the Dr. Halpern mentions that privacy is very important and it can be attained by pulling the curtains, or blinds in a regular hospital, but he also mentions that the curtains and blinds can get dirty and may need to be changed between the patients. This constant changing of the curtains and blinds can be costly in the long run. I personally think having an “e-glass” installed in each and every hospital room can be very beneficial, as it is easily controlled by a nurse with a touch of a button. Having every little detail about our patient on one screen can definitely help minimize errors and provide the best patient care possible. It would be great to get a patient’s, vital signs, heart monitoring, lab values and other diagnostics on one screen, rather than looking at multiple things.
Bedside sonogram machine These sonogram machines are the new “stethoscope”. With the help of these sonogram machines, one can not only auscultate the various body parts but can also look and can see the various pressures within the body. This is a unique piece of equipment, which can give health care providers more information, and hopefully a better treatment plan for their patients, which can lead to a faster recovery. Even though these bedside sonograms are a great tool to have, in my opinion, a stethoscope is way more convenient to carry.
