I had a bad experience when I used that technique, I was praising one student but instead the other student got defensive. I was praising the child for staying on task while two other students were not doing their assignment. So I decided to take my teachers’ advice and not keep telling the child repeatedly to not do certain things. After that experience I just went back to telling that child to stay on task. The other thing was giving incentives to students who did their assignments and exhibit good behavior. Arranged seating in the general classroom is a benefit for the teacher to minimize distractions and keep the classroom under control. But the students are the ones who may dislike arranged seating because they do not communicate or interact with certain classmates. Positive reinforcement is beneficial for students to get engaged and continue to exhibit good behavior and staying on task. As a future teacher I do not want to perpetuate my mentor classroom management skills where signaling out the child is her way of managing her classroom. I would like to utilize the Benign Tactics because it creates a less threatening approach to managing the classroom and not putting the student on the
