The Institute of Medicine (IOM) established in 1970 by the National Academy of sciences. This is a non-government Institution work independently. The IOM’s mission is to advance and distribute scientific knowledge to improve health. The Institute provides clear findings and recommendations about the issues raised to the authorities and public. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) has identified the problems in health care staff and recommended the solutions. Nursing profession is the largest division of the nation’s healthcare workforce. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) and the IOM together introduced The Future of Nursing, Leading Change and Advanced Health (2010). The report recommended nursing transformation needed in 3 areas- nursing practice, education and leadership.

My aim is to obtain a APRN, and I believe that as time pass in the fast moving healthcare system states boards have to change their laws to uniform practice standards about APRNs and NPs practice. I am on the way of nursing education journey to pursue BSN, however I never stop learning and I have to be prepared for constant career change in the health care.
