The Institute of Medicine (IOM) is an independent, nonprofit organization that work outside of the government to provide unbiased and authoritative advice to decision makers and the public. (http://www.iom.edu/About-IOM.aspx). It makes great impact on the nursing education. An improved education system, according to report given by health system and services the education level of nurse massively improved. This origination has more than 1,900 members and foreign associates who puts their time into the nation’s health. In the report The Future of Nursing nurses play a very vital role; they need to carry disciplines such as leadership, system improvement, research, teamwork and public health. In 2008 Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Institute of Medicine is when it was launched a two year initiative. As stated in this report that nurses should obtain a higher level of education because of the increasing demands. On the graph shown in this report: it shows how nurses are in demand the higher education the more opportunities you have by getting a job in a hospital. In between the years of 1999 and 2009 nurse practitioner has doubled from 0.23 to 0.48 which a huge growth to the primary care. Not only this field is doing so well currently; the nurses with Baccalaureate degree will increase from 50% to 80% by 2020.
