Simone Biles: Courage To Soar You'd never know how the rough journey you go through can be an inspirational story for another. Simone Biles, known to be the best gymnast on the face of the earth, went through a very grueling childhood. Jumping from foster care - to - foster care her and her siblings were serrated from their mother and each other. Her motive to never give up during the hardest days of her life, inspires people everyday. Simone Biles was born March 14, 1997, in Columbus, Ohio (marriedbiography.com/simone-biles-biography.) She has 3 other siblings, Ashley, Tevin, and Adria. Her birth mother, Shanon Biles, was unable to care for her children. She suffered from alcohol and drug abuse (Biles, 22). Which is true, because she is, but she has achieved is much more than that. Over the five years of being on the Women’s U.S. national gymnastics team, she has won 21 medals. She began her elite gymnastics career on July 1, 2011 at the 2011 American Classic (Biles, 69). After that day, over the next five years, she has become a three-time world all-around champion, the United States national all-around champion four years in a row, and many more solo event awards. In 2016, Simone, along with 4 other gymnasts were selected at the Olympic Trials to represent team U.S.A. at the 2016 Rio Olympics (Biles, 191). Once in Rio, she placed on everything except for the uneven bars. She won a gold medal on floor and vault and won the all round over about 325 of the best female gymnasts in the world. Carrying the team, Biles and the rest of the Final Five won the all around making them the best women's gymnastics team in the world. After she made Olympic history, Biles was revealed as a contender who would compete on season 24 of Dancing with the Stars. She was paired with dancer Sasha Farber. Despite all of the praise and excellent scores they got from the judges all season, the were eliminated one week before finals. They placed fourth. Ever since then, Simone has been in various commercials like Under Amour, Nike, Kellogg’s, and Mattress Firm (Biles, 238).
