The movie “The Insider” is an award winning film that viewed several ethical reasoning tactics. The main character of the film was Jeffrey Wigand who was employed by Brown and Williamson that shared information with Lowell Bergman, a producer for 60 minutes, about their illegal activity. Although, Brown and Williamson was the third largest tobacco company in the country, they used their power to gain a profit by inserting illegal addictive drugs into their cigarettes. This company defined short run by maximizing their profits without care for their consumers. With this approach, it caused smokers to purchase their product with being unaware and endangered. The ethics of Brown and Williamson was exposed to the world. This film shows how people were blinded by false representations. In the film, Jeffrey Wigand decided to share information with an interviewer of CBS. Lowell Bergman was curious about the illegal operations of Brown and Williamson. Although Jeffrey Wigand played a part in both conflicting rights and resolving conflicts, he chose to decide leaving Brown and Williamson. He also thought it would be best for his family as well. After Jeffrey Wigand was dismissed from his job he endured unethical acts that brought fear to his family. As a result, his family was being watch, their privacy was being invaded, and his wife decided to divorce him. Brown and Williams was unethical in the decision to wrongfully fire Jeffrey Wigand. Unlike Brown and Williams, this film proved to their customers that the operation of cost-benefit analysis was deeply rooted. The company was selfish to maximize the net benefit without thinking about their customers. Brown and Williams’ morals have sometimes been observed as pure
