The inside of the forest was darker than either of us had originally anticipated, so Ethan and I had reached for our phones in order to get at least some light. The faint glow illuminated a small patch of the area in front of us which caused some small rodents to run from the dim illumination. I turned to Ethan and he said that we should keep moving in order to prevent us from being spotted without any way to escape. We wandered through the dark murk for another 5 minutes until we came across a small well, crumbling and overgrown with vines. I walked to the edge of the pit and peered down into the foul, mold scented abyss.
“How do you think we can get down this thing?” I asked Ethan, while tossing a small rock down the well. It landed with a clatter

I steadied myself on top of the pole, using it as a cane and walked towards the Eastward tunnel. Every few steps, I would flinch and whine at the pain in my leg. I looked over my shoulder but Ethan was already out of sight and the room was filling with darkness.
I never was one to be scared of the dark, but when you’re alone, scared, hurt and no one knows where you are; fear grips you, holding you in place slowly choking you. I felt that same painful chill, feeling all alone in the world, as if I was the only one in this whole place. I used my phone as a light source to see what was in front of me. All I could see was the rusty metal wall and floor.
I froze, hearing a sharp dragging sound behind me. I turned the light off and curled up as the light faded with the dragging coming closer. I heard the dragging sound stopped and then it slowly faded into the distance. When it was gone I turned my light on and decided to keep going the other way, just to make sure whatever was out the didn’t catch me.
