“Tell me and I forget, show me and I remember, involve me and I understand.” This is a common quotation that is used based off the inquiry model of teaching. The inquiry model of teaching is an unique approach to go about teaching. It is all based off the idea of involving the students and having them figure out strategies on their own so that they can remember the information better. The inquiry model of teaching is defined as "seeking for truth, information, or knowledge -- seeking information by questioning. "Individuals carry on the process of inquiry from the time they are born until they die. This is true even though they might not reflect upon the process. Infants begin to make sense of the world by inquiring. From birth, babies observe faces that come near, they grasp objects, they put things in their mouths, and they turn toward voices. The process of inquiring begins with gathering information and data through applying the human senses seeing, hearing, touching, tasting, and smelling” (Joe Exline, 2004). What this means is, when teaching a physical education class, there is less of a direct teaching style, where the teacher is giving directions and the students are following. It is similar to the indirect way of teaching where the students have to figure out how to play the game on their own and strategize with one another to accomplish a task.
