Sony is a Japanese conglomerate multinational corporation and is one of the company that leading manufacturers of electronic products for the consumer and professional markets. Sony engaged various segment of business which are Electronics (including video games, network services and medical business), Motion pictures, Music and Financial Services. Sony as a top global media conglomerate, it boasts additional assets in the areas of music (Sony Music Entertainment), film (Sony Pictures Entertainment and Sony Digital Production), smartphones (Sony Mobile), DVDs (Sony Pictures Home Entertainment), and TV (Sony Pictures Television). Other than that, Sony also has several financial services businesses and an advertising agency in Japan.

In the Sony innovation strategy, Sony main focuses and strengthening their core electronics businesses which are Mobile, Imaging and Game. Sony returns their TV business to profitability by growth the strategies in emerging markets to support the overall of the Sony Group. Sony also reinforce new businesses (such as Medical and Security) to deliver sustained growth and realign Sony’s business portfolio. Besides that, Sony further strengthens profitability in the Entertainment and Financial Services businesses to maintain their position in the market.
According from my understanding, Sony’s innovation strategy model just likes the Technology Driven. Sony creates interesting, relevant technologies that solve the customer needs. Sony always continues improves their product quality and design to maintain their position in the market. Other than that, Sony mostly creates innovations to find or create markets with doing digital revolution and improvement.

Form the Sony history, Sony has a great deal of experience in designing, manufacturing, and selling miniaturized electronic technology. Sony has used these resources to exploit numerous market opportunities, including portable tape players, portable disc players, portable televisions, and easy-to-hold 8mm video cameras. Sony’s resources which including their specific technological skills and their creative organizational cultures and made it possible for them to respond to, and even create a new environmental opportunities.
Product Development
Sony also has strong product development. In this fact, Sony is fast catching, especially in the area of miniaturization technology. So, Walkman is one example of Sony’s ability to make a bulky product smaller. Besides that, creating the Trinitron Colour television, VCR, and Walkman, the company helped develop the magnetic recording tape, the compact disc, and the Blu-Ray disc that used today as a medium for high-definition video playback. For the Sony latest innovation, Crystal LED television was well received at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
