An “effective leader catalyze support for the collective common good, not just parochial self- interest”(Lee.p. 219). When looking at this quality of a leader ship there where two group members who definitely went above and beyond. The first one was Jullissa she would many times bring snacks for the group and never expect anything back. The next person was Scott. He also saw that one of the group members would sometimes feel a little tired and took it on himself to bring that individual coffee to give him a boost of energy. Although, nether group member where obligated to go above and beyond it maid a difference in how the group worked together. The next quality that can be seen important for a leader is to allow people to feel that its ok to laugh and that they provide comic relief, humor and perspective (219). Although plenty of humors insdentses occurred there where two group members that stuck out the most, Jonnie and Scott. Jonnie created this humors environment when it came down to working on group projects he would say something that would make everyone laugh and remind each other that whatever is going on its ok to laugh and have fun with

Leaders have many qualities and all of them are very important but I find a few that I found very important to have as a leader. You need to be brave and have courage you need to listen to what other people have to say and to have passion for what you do. You have to have a lot of qualities to be a understanding and caring leader . I found that Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass share this qualities Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman had a lot of courage to do what they did . Harriet would still go back to free other slave after getting out of slavery herself it took a lot of courage of and bravery to go back to help others she could have been killed or become a slave again .…

Mrs. Arling could implement this strategy further by breaking the class into two groups; she could lead one group, and the aid could lead the other. Students could have time to ask questions and brainstorm answers together. Time for further discussion could follow a period of individual work time. If the class is broken down so that students receive more individual help, the students would strongly benefit (Oliver et al., 2009, p. 11). Mrs. Arling would also be able to assess individual students more accurately.…

A leader is someone who leads a group, while an effective leader is someone who not only leads, but also listens. To me, the Rabbi at my synagogue, Rabbi Mark, is an effective leader. During a sermon at Yom Kippur services, Rabbi Mark stated, “Sometimes we need to stop and listen to what others have to say.” Even if we disagree with a person or we are in a hurry, it still important to stop and listen to others perspectives. Once we learn about others perspectives we can truly show compassion for others and become effective leaders.…

Wes Moore’s leadership attributes are not specific to him. Instead, such attributes as courage, reverence, and loyalty are prevalent in all leaders in society. These characteristics, and more, are all included in the Boy Scouts of America Scout Law: trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent (BSA 2016). The reason the Boy Scouts were acknowledged directly is because I am an Eagle Scout. To be an Eagle Scout, one must show exemplary leadership in their community by leading a service project that is beneficial to all.…

To me a person who is a leader leads by example. Ever since I was in middle school I have tried to always do the right thing and guide my peers into a direction that is best for them. Since coming to Woodberry my Freshman year I feel as though I have grown stronger in this trait. One example that stands out particularly is when I was on the Bengal football team, and it was a scorching day early on in the year. It seemed as though everybody had a terrible day, and it was looking like we were having a horrible practice.…

Leadership. Whenever this word comes to mind, I think of the qualities that it takes to be a leader: mentally strong, intelligent, and the ability to be a good overall person. Being a leader is a position that has many responsibilities that come along with it. While there are many challenges that a leader must face, overcoming these challenges and hardships can have some of the most rewarding results. Being a leader does not necessarily mean to lead a group of people.…

The qualities that I possess that would enable me to contribute to the FGCU community are compassion, leadership and commitment to excellence. Having compassion means being aware of the feelings and needs of those who are around you. It's the little things we do in life that can make a big difference in someone else's. Whether it’s helping a fellow student with homework or recognizing when a friend is having a bad day and giving him or her a shoulder to cry on – it’s these small gestures that can make all the difference to someone. Leadership is another quality that I possess.…

A leader should be someone you look up to and who does the right thing. Anyone can be a leader, but to be a good leader you must be honest, respectful, kind and you must take responsibility of your actions whether they are right or wrong. Leadership and service go hand in hand. Leaders must serve the people they are leading. If a leader does not give back to the people he or she serves they are likely not doing a very good job of showing others how to act responsibly or what values are necessary to making their environment better.…

It takes motivation and positivity as well the skill set to be a strong leader on the administrative side of things. Some of my favorite captains, Correll Maley and Amanda Leung, have wonderfully led the team and are both people I look up to. The captain should be someone who can support the team when they’re down and rally for them when they’re up. The captain should be someone who can handle the tasks that are required of them and who can work well with their other co-captains. The captain should also be someone who genuinely wants to lead, motivate, and have fun with their peers.…

Social Work with Groups course is giving me more insight to the other courses that I have taken previously and some of those that I am currently rolled in such as Social Work with Families and Community Development. After reading the textbook and the discussions in class, the theories of group counseling, viewing groups through multicultural lens, leadership qualities and functions, co-facilitator and group development stood out for me and broaden my perception into Social Work as a profession. The first thing that caught my attention this time is that, theories of counseling are also applicable to group counseling. I learned about the theories in my social work practice class last year. This show how important the theories are to me as an emerging social worker.…
