If you are in high school or college you are the perfect fit, otherwise you just “don’t have your life together,” or you haven’t gone the extra mile to acquire the skills needed for other jobs, whether that be through college or other programs. So maybe other cultures are right when they call us lazy, but I think they are referring to those who have higher paying jobs as well. But could we survive without these jobs? While there might not be a need for tons of people working in a factory like there was back in the day, we definitely rely on the help of people who work minimum wage jobs. American’s should shift their view of minimum wage workers and start to unwind all the stereotypes that have been created. You never know why someone may have the job they do, unless you get to know them. I know a lot of people who graduated high school and are working minimum wage jobs to save up money so that they can eventually go to college. Many American’s don’t always think of situations like these. If we change our stereotypes we may be able to change how work is portrayed in our culture.
