How is the President’s presentation?
President Obama seems to be cool and collected throughout the whole address. He does not seem to be nervous or scared about what he is addressing, as shown by his body language. His body language emphasizes the President’s experiences, especially when it comes to speeches. He seems to have been well prepared, as he knows where to put his hands and is not fidgety. He speaks with a confidence in his voice that also seems to have been gained from 7 years as president. …show more content…
She stresses the problems with the current economy, and how people’s wages are not increasing. She also talks about the health care program and how it has become harder than before for people to pay for medical situations. Her biggest concern by far is the ISIL problem and the fact that he could potentially be allowing undocumented immigrants into the country. She underlines the potential dangers that come with allowing the refugees to enter the US, and how Obama needs to act more assertively.
e. Initiatives or proposals?
Governor Haley talks abundantly about the undocumented and how she would call for more stern regulations when letting immigrants in. She wants them to be properly vetted, as well as have a positive background. She also calls for a reform for education for the children, parents and teachers to make education more efficient for all. She would also strengthen the military to show people that America is not a country to be messed with, even though they do “seek peace.”

The CNN Chief Political Correspondent was Dana Bush and the CNN Chief National Correspondent was John King. Dana Bush did not really talk about the speech itself, instead talking more about Obama’s history and how he lost Democratic control of the Senate and the House of Representatives. John King talked about how Obama was disagreeing with remarks Republicans had made directed to him and certain issues. He says that Obama basically rejected all those assertions and in a sly way, told citizens to vote for a Democrat. They way the address was covered they talked about the speech right after Obama finished with the speech and analyzed it quite efficiently. There was a round table talk about the speech that was then stopped for the Republican rebuttal. After Haley finished with her response, CNN continued analyzing the speech and the overall effect it had and what it could potentially lead to.
Who is the designated survivor? What does that mean?
The designated survivor of the State of the Union was Senate President Orrin Hatch and Jeh Johnson, the Secretary of Homeland Security. The designated survivor is one or more people that do not attend the State of the Union address in case of some sort of catastrophic event were to happen at the address.
