After the maturation of the written language, literature began to flourish in China; it grew voluminous, sophisticated, and kaleidoscopic, to a degree that is unparalleled in the history of humanity. However, amidst various themes delineated in literary works, one appears to be particularly note-worthy and later becomes a tradition, an epitome, of Chinese literature: reclusion. When considering the artistic traditions of the past it's important to keep perspective in mind. The whole point of most artists up to the late 19th century was to earn their keep and living by creating art for the upper class and royalty. That being said, everything that the artists did had to impress and flatter the royalty or they wouldn't get a commission, and no commission meant no money for food. So naturally the art that was created was all about flattering the royalty, making the gods and mythology look good, or in some way provoking an emotional reaction from the viewers that would cause them to pay the artist enough to survive. This changed in the late 19th century when artists started creating art for "art's sake".…

Whether or not all forty-seven of those films were good or bad, they all were unable to capture the same vision Edgar Rice Burroughs had of the Wildman. The Walt Disney Studios managed to achieve this through a different screen technique: animation. The three points of aesthetics that are very striking are: how some characters are more stylised than others; how colours play a big role; and how evil characters are drawn.…

Although both Neoclassical and Romantic art were often used for political propaganda and messages of morality, the intense emotion felt when gazing upon Romantic works is timeless, impacting human feelings century after century. Although Neoclassical successfully reminds us, after the frivolous indulgence of the Rococo, of our potential for refined principles in its solemn portrayal of the most rational of Roman figures and Greek democracy, its scenes were often used to depict the modern apex moments of socially apex individuals. It is a suggestive indoctrination that would be a siren song to the artwork's affluent subject, but less so to that of the ordinary citizen, who knows he will likely never be able to relate. For example, under the…
