For example, anyone can have Alexa read stories to them or turn on or off the lights. Whether it be used to assist disabled or not, the Echo provides users with limitless amounts of skills. Amazon, as well as hundreds of third party websites, produce thousands of services to allow Alexa to make your everyday life easier. The Amazon Echo also benefits society by allowing technology to progress even faster. “In a few years, we will fill our homes with "smart" clocks, refrigerators, TVs and security systems. Together, they'll help voice assistants break out of single devices to be available anywhere in your house, car or workplace”.(3) The Echo also comes with many harmful effects on society. For example, the Echo promotes laziness. For instance, anyone can ask Alexa to read any book or newspaper article with ease. “All the user has to do is say, Alexa, read [title],” and the device will start reading. So anyone can grab a bag of popcorn and listen to their favorite novels.(4) The Amazon Echo is also a harm to the economy. There is no point of buying physical copies of books or newspapers anymore because you can just get Alexa to read it to you without even moving a finger.
