Why Do People Use Paid Advertisements?

It is an inevitable truth that our society has grown fond of social media outlets such as Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook. These mediums are extremely prominent in our everyday lives, as it has been proven that a vast majority of people check their electronic devices before they even get out of bed. People use social media for practically everything, but has this technological advancement overshadowed the usage of paid advertisements such as television commercials, billboards and magazine features? Various studies have been conducted to find the truth in accordance to this matter, and has come to the consensus that using paid advertising has become obsolete within the past few decades, as a plethora of businesses have begun using free social media platforms to generate customers and revenue as their main source of publicity. As the world around us has adapted to new forms of technology, it is a pertinent fact that advertisements made through social media are more effective than paid advertisements, on account social media posts do not require access to personal privacy settings, they are more universally accessible, and is more “in tune” with millennials.
