There were three factors that played a role in motivating a child to do sports, ones judgment about their ability, social support about playing the sport, enjoyment of the sports and (Weiss 2000). If these three factors all have successful outcomes then the children are in a very motivation enjoinment with a chance to thrive being physically active. Having an ability in whatever activity you are doing is key, more ability makes you better at something and in return enjoy doing it more (Weiss 2000). More ability can also lead to more interest and enjoyment which would also be more motivation to being physically active (Weiss 2000). The hoop itself really is not much, but I really do not think that it needs to be anything more, nothing more nothing less. Some kids just do not like basketball so that was one problem that I think this hoop could encounter. But one could easily change this to football by putting a recover with a hole as his hands then the child could be a quarterback or the laundry basket could be a goal and it could be a soccer theme. The sport itself really is irrelevant when it comes to this idea. Any sport will teach a child motor skills and as long as they are putting their dirty clothes away, operant conditioning. Really that is what is important, that the child is learning and developing into a healthy human
