The Influence Of My Writing

Decent Essays
I would have to say that the biggest influence on the way that I write is probably my past teachers. They have made a difference in my writing each year. I have read one of my beginning of the year pieces and one of my end of the year pieces after the end of the school year and the final paper I write is always the one that is better quality.

I haven't found that my writing has dramatically been affected however. Meaning, that most of my grades maintained the same GPA, my grammar was still lacking, and generally my ability to construct sentences and paragraphs was for the most part were stagnant. The only increase in my ability to write- from my perspective-has come with my time in a University and my practice with writing new ideas. However, I do believe that my ability to construct ideas and the time in which it takes for me to develop and even write this ideas has dramatically changed. When applying these templates to my writing I have found that writing in general comes easily to me.…

My mind feels like a 1000 piece puzzle missing a piece. I can’t simply find the right words to say to start this paper. It is always like this when freewriting; the idea of freewriting in and of itself frightens me. Never able to put the words in my head onto paper in a way that it can be read eloquently by others. My hands start to cramp automatically at the idea of freewriting.…

Writing is an art; we create our thoughts in your mind and express it on paper. Once we start writing we keep getting new ideas and when we re-read what we wrote, sometimes it might surprise us. I like to write during early mornings or in the evening when it is quiet. My reading table is facing towards the window so when fresh air is in my room, fresh ideas generate inside me as well. I make sure to have some healthy snacks and a bottle of water in front me…

Although my history as a writer is not very long, considering i am only fifteen, I believe it has definitely impacted the way I perceive writing and literature. The main pieces that stuck out to me are a creative writing assignment in first grade, a research paper in fourth grade, a creative writing assignment again in fourth grade, and personal writing piece I wrote in fourth grade, and a biography I wrote in 9th grade. Whether these pieces negatively or positively affected me I think they definitely affected the way I look at writing. The first writing piece I remember, that I liked, was in the first grade.…

Whether we know it or not in this modern society we are writers everyday of our lives. These interactions shape not only how we communicate but how we write as well. Personally, I have been shaped by the influence of both other writers I have known and those I have only read the creations of. Those same influences contributed to both my writing style in the classroom and to my identity as a writer. I spent a lot of my childhood with my nose deep in fiction novels at near by libraries.…

Reading and writing have impacted my life in numerous ways; in fact, reading books has impacted my life by expanding my vocabulary. My mother would read difficult books to expose me to broad new words to me at a young age. She would also have me study dictionaries, and continuously give me spelling test. When I got a little older I would start to read books on my own. I would read books that opened up my imagination; such as the series, The Magic Tree House.…

Writing has always been something I loved to do. I can remember writing stories, poems, journal, and letters every day after school. Not because they were required, but simply because it was something I enjoyed. However, when I got in high school, writing became more of an obligation. I would have to write about stuff that didn't interest me in any type of way.…

I started off my semester to a rough start due to late registration which led me to playing catch-up in a lot of my courses. Even with these minor setback I still was able to achieve some of my goal that I made for the semester.…

As a senior at TCPS, I am currently taking my second dual-enrollment college course, comp one. Before this college level writing course, I thought I had the skill of writing papers mastered. Throughout grade school, writing a paper in a few hours was easily achievable and was the general thing to do. My peers and I easily wrote papers without effort and made good grades. Therefore, when I started my first college writing course, I thought this was the thing to do.…

I would say I have a neutral opinion on English classes. Some days I like them, and some days I dread the time when I have to go home and write another really long essay. My writing process has always been about the same from year to year because I tend to do very well on most of them. I have really enjoyed reading books and plays in class, and I hope we can do that in the future.…

My writing was influenced by the time I had spent in school. To begin with, English was one of my weakest subjects in school. Every essay, paragraph or test I took ended up in a failing or a barely passing grade. Free writing was really bad for me because I would never know what to write about. It would be easy for most people…

Knowing I had to aim for a different audience this time around really affected my writing. When my tone for the original paper was rather informal and even somewhat fun, now I had to write for the APA, a group of people who take this line of work very seriously (as they should). Due to this, I gave my arguments a more serious tone, and I even expanded my vocabulary a bit to give a good impression. If I want the APA to listen to me, I should write in a tone they would use. I was careful about the sources I used for this.…

The two spheres that have impacted my life the most are academic and personal. This is because I have spent the most time writing for myself and for essays and other school related pieces. Since I started school I have been writing for my classes. There hasn 't been a year that I haven 't written something. From Kindergarten where I used to draw a picture and describe it in two sentences, to High School where I wrote an essay almost every week, because of this I believe the academic sphere has been a big influence in my writing style.…
