It is important that we exercise our God given right to utilize our sphere of influence to the best of our abilities. Although leadership may gain you more recognition throughout society it is not about the affluence one can acquire; leading is solely about guiding others down a path of success so that future generations can more easily learn from our mistakes to pass down to the next generation. So in turn, we had the idea to create a Spanish Club to represent one of the minority majorities prevalent in our school. Through Spanish Club, my responsibilities ranged from initial promotion of the new club to tracking new memberships, organizing advertisements and assisting the president in running meetings/events. A school club that has built a legacy on students who exemplify the ideals of leadership, service, character, and citizenship. To even be considered for a group of this nature would be an honor within itself. Leadership is simply defined as the action of leading a group of people or an organization however, I believe leadership to be much more than simply being in charge. True leadership is simply more than being bossy and I have learned this through my experiences within boy scouts.…

Without strong character, honors students do not posses the leadership skills and the service-oriented attitude to experience success. Lauren Since about ninth grade, there was one thing that my best friend Sarah and I wanted from high school: to be in National Honor Society. Even in our freshman year, we knew what an honor it would be to be part of such an elite organization, and we wanted to be part of that. In our school, there is a requirement that you must be in at least two clubs (among other stricter requirements) to be considered for induction.…

This is an opportunity that not everyone has the privilege to be a part of during their high school career. I would like to display the ways in which I have demonstrated the required assets to be a part of this organization. Not only do I possess the qualities of character, scholarship, leadership, and service, but through N.H.S., I am certain that I will grow tremendously in each of these areas. The first quality I have demonstrated throughout my life, but more specifically, my high school career, is character.…

At the time I was the president of French club and my idea of changing the French club for the better resulted in a whole new club. The hope for the foreign language club was to promote intercultural understanding and pair it with learning a new language. Though the two main language classes at my school are French and Spanish, the school also has an annual Language Day that emphasizes the multiculturalism of our school where each can share food from their culture or other aspects such as dance or a tradition. I emceed the cultural performances on Language Day this past year where we had song performances in various languages as well as a play and some dances. The club has allowed me to explore my interests as well as given me responsibility because I am in charge of planning our community service activities and organizing our different school related functions.…

It was April 15th, 2013 and I was the 15-year-old, innocent sophomore with a perfect record, sitting in the principal’s office waiting for my punishment. I plastered a fake smile on my bright red face, trying not to let the tears filling my blue eyes get the best of me. My mom always used to tell me that I should rule a small country one day, and I would look at her and say, “What? You don’t think I can handle the world?”.…

Because of the nature of NHS, I wanted the event to be community service, but at the same time, I wanted to emphasize the influence of literature. So, after some perusal, I came across Books for Africa which sends second-hand books to assuage the literature dearth in Africa. I created the feasible concept of setting up collection bins around the school and eventually donating them. The rest of the club quickly got on board and within a couple hours, we even had a sponsor to ship the donations. I have been involved in many service projects, but this resonated.…

Being a leader is not about having a higher position or seniority in the hierarchy of an organization. Others believe and refer leadership in a company to the most experienced person. In my own opinion, for example; a chief executive officer will only be chief executive officer and not a leader if he/she not possess the qualities of a true leader. Moreover, leadership is not about reaching a certain increase of pay. Leadership does not talk about management and does not relate with personal characteristics.…
