Jacques Cousteau stated that the Antarctic is one of the main factors in the cooling of the earth. He states that the reason for this is due to the fact that the colder water of the Antarctic flows down towards the tropics and mixes with the warmer water which results in the two different temperatures mixing and cooling down not only the surface water but also that atmosphere. Sadly though even though this great system is put into place naturally to cool down the earth and keep it in homeostasis this system is being threatened by our human activity on the planet (“Captain Cousteau” 17).
