The Influence Of IAT Test On People's Preferences

Decent Essays
I think the test was very interesting and the result is mostly accurate. If you answer all the questions with honesty, it will tell exactly what your preferences are. I am satisfied of result because it matches exactly with my preference regarding thin and fat people.

The implicit association test I chose to complete had to do with race. It began with a series of generalized questions which asked about my current attitude with regard to whites and blacks. After that, there was a timed 7-part association response that determined how I felt about each race. The result was surprising as it fell outside my natural attitude toward African-American population.…

Before taking the Implicit Association Test (IAT), I thought that it was an interesting way to test for unconscious prejudice because it shows how different qualities and values are associated with white and black people. I know that I am biased towards both groups in different areas, but I felt nervous before taking the test. I think that was because I thought it would make me feel like a bad person depending on my results. I know that I am not an inherently bad person based on any test results, but the idea of having concrete results made me a bit nervous even though I know I am situationally biased. After the test, I was disappointed by my results.…

When I first learned that I would have to complete multiple IAT tests, I automatically had an idea of what I thought my scores were going to be for each test. For all of the tests, I assumed that I would receive a score of moderate preference. I especially assumed that I would receive a score of moderate preference on the Race IAT test because that was the score that I had received when I took the same test last year. Turns out, I received a moderate preference score on the Gender- Career and Age IAT tests, and a strong preference score on the Race, and Disability IAT tests. I think when I first found out that I had received a score of strong preference on the Race and Disability IAT tests I was at first very shocked and confused about…

Research paper ROUGH draft Intelligence testing in schools has been a topic of high debate in our society. Since its introduction in France when French psychologist Alfred Binet “designed a formal test of intelligence that would help identify children who were unable to learn as quickly or as well as others” (Psychology book) to the First World War leading up to present day its adoption into schools has been marked by unfairness, unreliability, and invalidity. But, efforts have been made to fairly standardize tests such that issues of cultural bias for example are eliminated. So, intelligence testing continues to be an arguable measurement that “has spawned a variety of aptitude and achievement tests that shape the educational choices of millions…
