This is similar to how Feudalism is set up. Land and loyalty/ military protection are traded between each other to create this political system. People did not switch out of different classes; they stayed in the same one. The king, nobles, and knights had way more perks and respect than the peasants and serfs. This period that was created was very similar to that of Japan’s. There were strict orders between the social classes that you could not switch out of each class. You and your descendents were there for their lives. Feudalism was made because there wasn’t a really strong government that could get Europe back on their feet after the fall of the Roman Empire. This was shown between the lords and the peasants/ serfs. The peasants were always considered to be in debt to the king and the lord. Much of their time was taken up working for their lords because they needed food and land to keep themselves and their families alive. Eugene V. Debs once said, “I am opposing a social order in which it is possible for one man who does absolutely nothing that is useful to amass a fortune of hundreds of millions of dollars, while millions of men and women who work all the days of their lives secure barely enough for a wretched existence.” He was definitely against Feudalism. He says, in a very harsh way, that the peasants and serfs were treated incredibly poor, while the kings and lords made a very large amount of profit with very little work. This was one of the reasons that Feudalism did not work out. They were not a unit, instead they were a disorganized bunch of people that did not know how to treat each other.
In conclusion, all areas of the European Middle Ages were impacted by the introduction of Feudalism, but the economy had the most impact. The fall of Feudalism was mainly due to the fact that not everyone was treated as an equal. Feudalism was not a good asset to Europe or the middle ages. It just caused chaos, and a lot of people could not trade or leave their house without
