The Influence Of Basketball

It’s game point and I have the ball. Feeling tremendously tired, I dribble up and get smothered by brother’s defense. With no other option, I shoot an off balanced three and then I hear it. The most lovely “swish” I’ve ever heard. After a countless number of losses, I finally beat my brother. The rush felt after draining that shot relieved me of all my fatigue and allowed me to gloat to my brother.
Basketball has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My brother and I grew up watching NBA games together and we would often fight over which team we wanted to win. Although my mother and sister weren’t interested in sports, they would watch games with my father, brother and me.
