The Influence Of ADD/ADHD On Child Development

It’s very important that we try to understand a student’s behavior rather than place labels such as ADD/ADHD. According to our text, students don’t develop an attention span until they are 4 years old. Still at that point, students are still individuals who are greatly impacted by their environment. We need to take in account typical child development patterns, as well as individual differences between children.
My placement is with 2-3 year olds. No teachers have made statements to be about a child being labeled as ADD/ADHD. The teachers seem to be mindful of child development, and how much these kids can really focus on. The teachers plan short, engaging activities to keep student focus.
