Have you ever watched a movie that was so intense that you were practically on your toes waiting for something crazy to happen the entire time? If not, then you have probably never seen the intense and thrilling movie, The Hunger Games. The Hunger Games, written by Suzanne Collins, tells the life story of a young girl named Katniss Everdeen. The movie is set in a horror filled country known as Panem, which consists of twelve poverty stricken districts and one very wealthy Capitol. Katniss resides in the poorest region of Panem, district twelve, with her mother and sister, Primrose Everdeen. Each year the districts come together to host what is known as the "Hunger Games". These games consist of two people, one male and one female, from each district. These two participants must fend for their lives as they are forced to battle all other …show more content…
The inequality of class explains the difference in the way that the poor of the districts are treated compared to those who are found in the wealth of the Capitol. The main values that The Hunger Games endorses consist of caring, determination, empathy, and conformity. The values of caring, determination, and conformity are used by the participants of the"Hunger Games". Katniss and the other tribute of district twelve, Peeta Mellark, must come together to survive and win the hearts of those in the Capitol. Empathy is found often throughout the story, but is specifically used when the tributes in the "Hunger Games" are in need of something to keep them alive. The members of the Capitol are able to send their favorite tributes what they need to survive whenever they desire to do so through "sponsorships". If a tribute is unpopular then no one will show their empathy and that tribute will die.
