Traditionally, religion had great social influences. People with strong religious faith insist that a family established and maintained through marriage is an indispensable part of a happy life. However, marriage is not as important as it used to be for the public because of the decline in religious belief. Many of my friends still go to church with their parents, but their religious belief is not as strong as their parents’. They maintain that an individual should have the freedom to make the decision on his marriage and family, which should not be regulated or restricted by religion. My friends and I believe that a single parent and his/her children constitute a family, and an unmarried couple living together with their children will also constitute a family. Both married and unmarried couples can help their children grow up in a healthy environment by providing love and support.
