The Inconvenient Truth was a documentary produced in 2006 to display the dangers of global warming. To advocate the documentary, they created two posters that provoke an emotional response in the people viewing them. These two posters were very similar in purpose but very different in the execution of the poster. The Inconvenient Truth was made from a slideshow created by Vice President Al Gore to educate the people about global warming. Producers Laurie David and Lawrence Bender, who saw his presentation at a town-hall meeting on global warming, wanted to convert Al Gore’s slideshow into a movie in which they did. The first poster can be broken down into several parts. Color, the dark colors they chose for the poster provokes a dark, unfavorable feeling. In the first poster, the intended audience is everybody who suffers or who is in range of hurricanes. In the picture, it shows a hurricane coming from a factory. In the Southeast, people are faced with hurricanes scares every year, especially this year with Hurricane Harvey, Irma, and Jose. While the second poster’s intended audience is animal-lovers. The fact that the penguins are not in their natural habitat, results in the thought of extinction of that species. This will cause the reader to want to change their habits to prevent or slow down global warming. to help them “save” the penguins.
They had a different audience for each poster for a reason. This will help to grasp an audience that cares about global warming. People who care about their safety from hurricanes and/or keeping the penguin population sound and plentiful, will want to see the movie and desire for global warming to stop.
