Introduction
The Incel, also known Involuntarily Celibate, Movement is a branch off of the Men’s Rights Movement. The Men’s Rights Movement was started simply because women had tried to get equal rights and then men had started to band together to oppose the movement because the men “are now the ones being oppressed”. The difference with the Incel Movement is that the men in this community or solely focused on the fact that women will not have sex with them. Because I know the basics of this movement I hope to discover more. I hope to find out what this particular group of individuals believe and why they believe this. The men that belong to this group are typically not what society would accept as attractive and they usually have a hard time interacting with the female population. I also discovered that there are various online chat rooms specifically for incles where they tend to chat about their lamentable interactions with women. Also many, if not all, of these men are narcissistic, hypocritical, imbeciles who believe the world owes them because of the double standards created my society. One topic that became extremely apparent almost instantly is that many of these men are, or could become, very violent. Many of the articles I read had talked specifically about two cases; Alek Minassian and Elliot Rodger, although there are many other cases. The first time I read of these acts was in an article by Zack Beauchamp on Vox.com. The article was not completely focused Minassian or Rodger, but it was focused on the violent side incels. The Vox article then led me to search both Minassian and Rodger and both cases were very special. When I had searched “Alek Minassian” I found an article on psychologytoday.com about not only Minassian and Rodger but the entire movement and two other incels who had also killed a significant amount of people. It is very different if it is just some group of men online discussing their lack of sex lives but it turns into a different incident when men start to commit crimes such as murder but then blame it on women for not wanting to have sex with douchebags.
