Adolescents around the country are continually feeling like they have no way to break free of the social faction they are placed in. Much like Anyons view Metzger believes that today 's kids are neglected when it comes to growth and proceeds to cause oppression amongst students. Keeping them in stereotypes and enabling them to advance themselves (116). Education is such an important part of society, it dictates a person 's life. If the child does not have a good education, then there is no doubt the child will most likely not go far in the world. Being maltreated will often guarantee a person working in a low income job for the reason that they will not want to return and further their education. If a teacher is taught that they themselves only have to get the student to learn the right answer, as in most middle class situations, they will do what they can to bring their students to that answer. Taking the child and turning them into basically objects, as surprisingly most adult do. Many have heard the saying ‘because I said so’ it is a common excuse that adults give to children, because they genuinely think that they know what is best for the child all the time and that a child should do whatever they say willing without any debate because they few themselves as a more higher position then that child. When adults stop viewing adolescents as objects and more as resources then when we see a bigger change in society. Perceiving children this way gives them more empowerment as it is a giving receiving relationship. It gives them the learning capability they need to grow while still being able to guide them in making the right decisions (118.) Giving a young adult empowerment through their childhood will also aid in their stability to be able to perform under stress.
