I had to collaborate with my colleagues on assignments for clients which was challenging I had to elaborate on my work and sometimes defend my work. I presented mock-ups of websites, brochures, business cards and more to major companies like Chevron, Adobe and even an up and coming Robotic Technology company. My colleagues and I had to stand through endless amounts of presentations in front of dozens of people. We had to sell our mock-ups while elaborating on why we were the right fit for their company. Evidently I was pretty good at it because I was hired as a part time employee instead of an intern. That experience sheds light on my speaking abilities. It allowed me to feel confident about learning again. Like Helen Keller said in her essay “The Day Language Came into My Life”, “Suddenly I felt a misty consciousness as of something forgotten- a thrill of returning thought; and somehow the mystery of language was revealed to me” (74). If Keller, a woman who was blind, deaf, and mute, could learn how to communicate under the most difficult circumstances and can comprehend the ways of speaking, reading, and writing then I could as well. I was actually good at articulating what it is that I wanted to say vocally and confident in my skill. But one big part of my job was sending and responding to clients via email. This gave me a slight chance to work on expressing myself in a professional setting. But then I realized that my other big problem was reading and comprehending what I
