Negative Effects Of College Essay

Many incoming college students are not mentally prepared for the college level reading and writing classes, because they have not been told what will be expected from them. In college, the instructors will want a well written essay, and many students do not know how to do give them that. When first starting college, I was one of those unprepared students when it came to writing a strong essay. I faced many problems when writing essays; I did not plan what I wanted to be said in my body paragraphs, as well as using quotes off the internet without plagiarizing. In high school students are not made aware of that plagiarism and procrastination will have a harmful effect on grades in college classes, but you can avoid that if you plan and use your time wisely. If students would realize the importance and understand the guidelines that will be given to them, then it will help them succeed in any college classes, but especially college writing classes. In high school teachers, will either let a student redo the whole essay or project, or they will just give them a zero. The problem with teachers doing that, is that when the student gets in college they do not understand the seriousness of plagiarizing in a paper. In college, it is a very serious problem that will result in you receiving a type of disciplinary action. You could either be given a failing grade, which will result in one failing the class. There are two types of plagiarism, intentional and unintentional. In college, it does not matter if you mean to plagiarize or not, you will receive the same punishment either way. If you plan and use your time wisely, you can avoid any type of plagiarism as well as succeed in any college
