In chapter 5 of our text, it talks about how David MeClelland (1953, 1987) found that most behavior can be organized into three social motives. On a personal level, I feel that I am someone who has the affiliation motive. I like to work with others in a team to collaborate to reach our goal. “…and will do whatever they can in the workplace to preserve relationships” (McClelland, 1953,1987, pg. 85). I believe that affiliation motive describes me because I am always trying to go “above and beyond” to help all members of my team whether in the classroom or in the workplace.

“Kolb’s model of adult learning (1974) provides a guide as to how feedback can be utilized to foster lifelong learning and a continuous, self-directed approach to personal and professional development” (Kolb, 1974, pg. 156). It is important to know how to correctly give feedback to someone. Once someone receives feedback they take time to reflect on what was said, and implement a plan to address the issues. In my speech class we had to do outline peer reviews where we would make sure that each component of their speech outline was done correctly. Sometimes someone would not do a part of the outline correctly and we would have to provide feedback as to how they could correct a section of their outline to make it better.
