Why Are Sports Important To Men

Have you ever given thought to why sports were originally only for men? A long time ago, people thought men could do just about anything and women were there just to help around the house. It continued for centuries of the same old thing, the woman standing to look pretty or to work inside of their own home, and the men can play sports, work at a job... but the first time women wanted to do something to change their course from being a regular girl to a woman doing something great. The people didn’t want the change of women doing more than they were supposed to do.When women first began forming their basketball league, they were not always regarded as the fierce competitors that they are. The coaches wanted to teach the new girls how to shoot. “There are three basic shots: push shot, the jump shot, and the lay-up.”(George Sullivan, pg 27) They wanted them to be able to do these easy shots first. The coaches wanted them to learn that your team is your best defense. “There are two styles of defensive basketball: player-to-player and zone.”(George Sullivan, pg 49) I think that the coaches wanted them to trust each other. It seemed that the Miss Head’s school was an all girl schools. University of California was an ordinary university, that decide to start a women’s basketball team. In 1839, the 23rd of March, the first women’s basketball game held at Smith College. All doors locked, no men allowed, sophomores against freshmen. In Louisiana, The first basketball game of 1902, was at the Southwestern Louisiana Industrial Institute may have been held between the Green team and Yellow team during the annual Field Day. Women's basketball is one of a few sports that developed in tandem with its men's counterpart. It became popular, spreading from the east coast of the United States to the west coast, in large part via women's colleges. This paper, has been more knowledge about how the women were more like tools and objects from long ago. It became something, it became another symbol that there are changes to the world. Women had something to do, a purpose of doing something they would never have done before.
