If possible, you should also keep an extra cell phone battery or a portable charger that you can use to recharge your battery in an emergency. That way, you can always call for help.
Road Flares
It gets dark really early in the winter, so you should keep some road flares in your car. That way, if you break down on the side of the road, you can set out the road flares. This will help other drivers see your vehicle and avoid it. It will also make it easier for the road-side assistance company you called for help to spot you.
Reflective Triangles
In addition to road flares, you should also keep some reflective triangles in your vehicle. You can also set these up outside of your vehicle in order to make it more visible when you break down in the winter.
