If you want to gain weight it is vital to lift weights and just as important not to ignore cardio in this pursuit. The problem is many people who want to gain weight are not maximizing the results of their weight lifting regimen and their cardio regimen. Cardio should be a series of high intensity workouts that is not only aerobic, but helps build muscle as well. Some weight lifters avoid cardio to conserve their calories for building muscle, however, this is dangerous because your heart needs to keep up with the rest of your body as its demands become more intensified. This article will provide a good way to develop and maintain muscle both during weight training and cardio exercises..

The elbows should point up toward the ceiling with the weights behind your head. Lift the weights directly over your head and back down completing the set once.

This should give you a good high intensity workout that will burn a lot of fat and get you closer to achieving the ‘carved’ look sought after in the gym. Make sure during the high intensity moments, you keep your heart rate at least 80 to 90%, otherwise it won’t really be a high intensity workout. You can only get results if you are willing to push yourself.

Moving forward, when working out you should be hitting the same body parts multiple times per week instead of once per week. Isolating a muscle once per week is too easy for your body and doesn’t give it much incentive to stimulate muscle growth. Keep your cardio workouts challenging with high intensity workout routines that use the muscles to burn fat while keeping the heart rate up. You are getting a good workout in your muscles and a good workout for your heart, essentially hitting 2 birds with one stone.
Every time you turn the intensity up a notch you are likely to have muscle soreness but don’t allow it to stop you from getting into the gym. Continue to push yourself with varied intensities and you will be seeing results in not
