Throwng Sports, weightlifting, wrestling and bodybuilding are examples of sports where there is an advantage that the athletes have a large muscle mass. In some sports such as gymnastics, athletics and break dancing athlete should increase muscle mass while he/she reduces the body fat percentage. It order to increase the relative strength. In such sports is not weight gain another goal, but more change in body composition. The optimum is increased muscle mass and decreased fat mass. But in some sports would it would be in the opposite way. As in weightlifting in shot put for example. Because there, may the athletes have more body mass to build muscles on. But there can also be a large genetic differences, when it comes to body composition and the ability to build muscles.
How to increase muscle mass
It may be wise for most of us to train strength, whether it is to prevent injuries, if it is to compete in a bodybuilder competition or just to feel and look good.
A man who trains targeted, and have proper diet, can have a weight gain of up to 0.5 kg a week. But this varies from person to person, training background and some other factors. You do not lose weight or does not go as easily up in muscle mass, at the start of your training career.
