the earth, living and non-living. One of the most important matter God created is the
water. Water, thou hast no taste, no color, no odor; can’t not be defined, art relished
while ever mysterious. Water has been used since antiquity as a symbol by which to
express devotion and purity. Some cultures, like the ancient Greeks, went as far as to
worship gods who were thought to live in and command the waters. Water is very
important in each of us. Two thirds of the earth's surface covered by water and the
human body consisting of 75 percent of it, it is evidently clear that water is one of the
prime elements responsible for life on earth. Water …show more content…
All from a simple glass of water.
In most parts of the world, water is a scarce resource. That might seem strange,
because there is so much water on Earth. Almost all of the water on Earth, more than 97
percent of it, is seawater in the oceans. The rest is called fresh water, because it does not
have a high salt content. Almost all of the fresh water that is available for human use is
either contained in soil and rock below the surface, called groundwater, or in rivers and
lakes.
In some areas there is enough fresh water for human use. Yet usable fresh water is not
as abundant as we might think. In some areas, there is not enough water. In those areas,
water has to be transported long distances from other places in human-made channels
called aqueducts. Even in areas with plenty of fresh water, there are sometimes
shortages. Rainfall is the only way that water supplies are replenished. During times of
drought, when rainfall is below average for a number of years, water supplies can
become dangerously low. Even when rainfall is adequate, water from rivers and lakes
might be unusable because of pollution. In some areas, groundwater cannot be …show more content…
Most people do not think much about how much water they use.
Perhaps this is partly because they don’t pay for it each time they use it, except when
they buy bottled water. Some of the substances that affect water quality are called
pollutants. Pollutants are mostly substances that get into water by human activities. The
number of toxic chemicals that are produced and used by humans is enormous. Many of
these toxic chemicals are used in ways that cause them to be added to surface water or
ground water. Directly or indirectly, water affects all facets of life. Without it, there
would be no vegetation on land, no oxygen for animals to breathe and the planet would
look entirely different than it does today. Water is necessary keep people's bodies and
the environment healthy and should be valued and protected as the precious resource it
is.
Water conservation is one way to maintain the amount of water in the present into the
future and in sustainable way. Water is our food we should take care of it because
