Once I decided what location I wanted to volunteer for I contacted MS Brochette, however I struggled getting in contact with her for a while. Originally I just thought people who allowed themselves to become victims of domestic violence were dumb but as I listened to her stories and how people fall a victim I began to grow more empathic for them. Many people become victims of domestic violence because they lack the ability to see the bad in someone and so they continue to be with the person who is physically hurting them.
I cared a lot about my community service but I wish I could have done more. The only reason why I did not do as much as I wanted to was because Ms. Bruchette had a very relaxed and uncaring attitude about this group of volunteers. I assume she had this attitude because it was her final year at new directions before her retirement and wanted to make sure it was easy for her, so she gave herself the smallest amount of paperwork.
