A few months ago I came across a video by Casey Neistat and was completely captivated by his work. I 've never been a Youtube/Netflix user but there was something really exciting about how he turns everyday activities into little adventures. That made me think about the kinds of trouble me and my friends get up to and how much fun it would be to record them so - with no experience or former interest in videos - I picked up my iphone and started to film. It 's very much how I am in real life. My friends will tell you I 'm pretty spontaneous and off the cuff. I go with my gut and I make a lot of mistakes! But whatever happens I run with it and that 's how I want the videos to come across, very homemade and authentic. Personally, I don 't mind glossier, more carefully curated videos but if it 's clearly presented in that way. There is nothing more off-putting than watching something which has been heavily stylized but poorly edited so it 's blatant that you 're watching an advert for something.

I 'm much more into tech/video-making than beauty/fashion. But I 've found that my girlfriends are much more inclined to cook on camera than guys! Not sure why but i 'm working on getting a few more of them in! I think food, with all its Martha Stewart connotations (LOVE her by the way) is really feminized so it just so happens that a lot of my videos are girl-oriented. It 's not intentional! That being said I love that idea and I embrace it. Girl power to me is being assertive, sassy and self-sufficient. Women like Melody Hobson and Martha Stewart who do what makes most people feel uncomfortable to do - they state what they want and why. I read somewhere that if a man is decisive it 's considered a compliment but if a woman is then she is outspoken and personally that 's ridiculous. If you carry yourself in a professional manner, you should always be able to voice your
