In the book Financing Vaccines in the 21st Century: Assuring Access and Availability, the Institute of Medicine claims that, “Immunization is financed through private health insurance, public safety net programs, and patient out-of-pocket spending. Private insurance covers 52 percent of children aged 0 to 5 years for immunizations, and public programs cover about 34 percent. The remaining 14 percent of children are underinsured.” (Institute of Medicine 63). Majority of insurance companies pay the price of vaccinations, but insurances does not always cover the whole price of illnesses. The amount of money that it takes to raise a child continues to grow everyday. A parent’s purpose is to provide for that child at least until the age of eighteen. When a child gets sick, the parent is legally responsible for the medical bills for that child. The vaccinations exceedingly decrease the risk of medical bills. Hospital bills and treatments can be extremely expensive, especially for those that do not have health insurance. Believe it or not, the government is here to protect the United States citizens. Every one person that gets vaccinated decreases the rate at which diseases are spread. People come into contact with many people everyday who carry germs. There is absolutely no way to get around germs, except for being quarantined. Quarantine is not a very realistic way to get rid of diseases. There is no way to make sure that these diseases come in contact with people that are not vaccinated. Immunizations are one of the only ways to reduce the odds. Vaccines help reduce the chances that people get sick by trying to trigger the body to fight off and come immune to the disease. A terrible way to spend hard worked money is through medical bills. Being sick can get quite expensive, definitely more expensive than a quick vaccination. Immunizations can potentially allow people to spend more money on other things. The uses of immunizations help not only people now, but people help future generations.
