To achieve universal healthcare, there would need to be only one healthcare system, instead of many, that is federally administered. This would actually save the U.S., as well as its citizens, millions of dollars. Lower-income citizens would only need to pay a percentage of the costs while the other costs would be paid for by a change in the tax structure on wealthy citizens and corporations. As written on Bernie Sanders' website, “Americans would no longer have to fear losing their health insurance if they lose their job, change employment or go part time.” Making one cost-effective healthcare system would relieve stress on businesses that are currently obligated to provide healthcare to employees and on people that have to worry about keeping their jobs in order to maintain their healthcare.
