The Importance Of Trusting People In A Church

Trust for me is a difficult thing. When you can’t trust the people in church you pretty much grew up in, trust becomes nearly impossible. People ask me why I’m so guarded, and here I’ll let you in on a little secret: people change people. Sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worst. You want to know where my hurt from the church comes from, well then sit down, and enjoy the show, but don’t say I didn’t warn you. It all goes back to the first church I was hurt by. I had gone to this church up until I was about ten. We had just had our bathrooms redone in the church and they looked amazing. The damage was already done. Not one single apology. It didn’t hurt so much that my “friend” let me take the fall, but more so that the church family I loved, turned there backs like that. Before the girl had confessed, we decided to move to a different church because the this situation caused so much stress on my family. This new church was a fresh start. It was closer to home, I had friends from school who went there, everything was great, at least for a little while. They had a nice big youth group that I couldn’t wait to be apart of one day. Eventually the day came and seventh grade me was ecstatic to start coming to youth group. I was one of the cool youth group members finally. It was great for a while, I made friends with the associate pastor’s daughter and thought I had found my best friend. Skip a few years and I’m a junior in high school, I go on my second missions trip to an area near London Kentucky called Redbird to help people in the community have a better life and share the gospel, for this area is know to have the highest level of poverty in America.
