There is certain research that suggests that a lot of the minority groups of today have shown less trust in the law enforcement agencies of today. Minority groups are reporting that they are having direct and negative experiences with a lot of the law enforcement officers. Research also shows that minority groups are incarcerated more and more than majority groups. For example, African Americans account for over 30 percent of those that are arrested for drug offences while 14 percent are white Americans. A large percentage of African Americans are being subjected to “stop and frisk” while white Americans are more certain to have drugs and or weapons.

Most Americans feel the same way, the police are not held accountable for their actions. The recent deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner are great examples of the lack of police brutality and lack of accountability. Communities will start feeling safer and they will even help in investigations if they can learn to trust law enforcement. The best thing that could happen is the communities will learn to trust law enforcement again. Having trust in law enforcement promotes a healthy environment. If the law enforcement officers are good, honest, and reliable- then we have a legitimate law enforcement agency and the communities will learn to trust
