Trees without Roots Fall Over
My experiences so far influenced me positively. Growing up, the most important thing that was stressed by my grandmother was education. She wanted me to take advantage of school because she was not given the opportunity when she was younger. In Guyana, teenage girls were inclined to drop out and pressured into finding husbands by their family. However, my grandmother’s views were opposite of traditional practice because she wanted more for me. Sometimes I used to fake being sick to stay home from school and she would repeatedly say “You’re full of tricks and if you think you’re going to stay home….over my dead body.” She wanted me to not miss any lessons taught in school because she was afraid that I would fall

I immediately got the girls’ contact information and reached out. After a scheduled interview, I was offered the internship on the spot. I was ecstatic and beyond thankful. After a month of working as an intern, I was offered a full-time position. I am currently working in the Medical Records Department at a mental health private practice. Once a week, I get the opportunity to meet with Psychologists, LMHC’S, MHC’S AND MSW professionals for an hour in a case conference. I enjoy this very much because it makes me more interested in the field of counseling. It’s really helpful to me because my questions are answered about cases and my feedback is also taking into consideration. Just the other day, these professionals were showing me an example of a Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) card. I appreciate the new materials I learn every day. I am at the moment of my life where I am truly happy with everything and I couldn’t be more …show more content…
My fear is failing a class because I invested a lot of money into school and I dread having to retake a class and let money go to waste. The effect of failing a class will get me booted out the program and I cannot afford to take that risk. This will then set me further back on my timeline to success. Not only would I feel guilty for being so careless with my education, I would also disappoint my immediate family. Given that I am the first in the family that accomplished so much, it would be embarrassing if my relatives found out I fail in life. The issue with the Indian culture is that people pry in your business and gossip when you

This approach is interesting because it addresses the resiliency of the client and the client can build upon a strength-based foundation to work towards solutions (George, 2008). I feel that this approach can be applied in many different situations to build on the strengths and past successes than to correct the past failures or mistakes. Secondly, in this approach the therapist understands, accepts, and uses the client’s unique worldviews during the process of identifying and amplifying exceptions (George, 2008). Lastly, this approach uses the imagination of client to visualize the future through questioning that can allow for a clear picture of what the solution may look like even when the problem may not be clearly defined. I find one of my strengths through the use of the peer evaluation form shows that I have good techniques to ask the right questions to gain a better understanding of the problem the client is presenting.…
