Myanmar Police Force and UNODC have a long-standing cooperation in combating cross-border crimes pertaining to drug trafficking. However, with one of the ASEAN pillar, AEC, there is an increasing risk of large numbers of trafficked people.
In light of PATROL (The Partnership against Transnational Crime through Regional Organization Law Enforcement), Myanmar government and UNODC signed LOA and then established MPNSC (Myanmar PATROL National Steering Committee) in 2013. MPNSC is comprised of the representatives from Division against Transnational Crime, customs, Anti-Drug Division, Anti Trafficking in Persons Division, Immigration, Customs, Border Trade, Environmental Conservation and Forestry, General Administration Department, Science and Technology Department and the chairperson is Deputy Chief of Myanmar Police Force.
