You can buy all the books and programs in the world, but you aren’t going to change your lifestyle until you are good and ready to do so. Therefore, the first step is making your own mind up. You have to decide you must change. Notice, I didn’t say want to change, would like to change, or need to change. Your desire to change has to be so great that it ignites your will beyond any resistance, reservations or even challenges you might have. I watched a lot of people start and stop this. Transitioning in to a vegan diet is definitely not the easiest thing in the world to do, but it is also not the hardest either. Many of us have been programed to believe that we should eat meat 3 times a day. After all it is an essential dietary component for all living organisms. Protein is an organic compound consisting of chains of amino acids that are important for the body in terms of hair, collagen, tissue, and muscles. Without consuming the proper amount of protein, our bodies can’t function properly. That is why American are so edge about not having enough of it. However, a recent infographic released by Door To Door Organics ( A food delivery service) showed that the average American eats at least 50% more protein than the daily recommended amount. Unfortunately, there are serious health risks involved in over eating animal protein. When eaten in excess animal proteins have been linked to advancing kidney failure, causing dehydration, and increasing the risk of osteoporosis. Therefore, it makes sense for us to choose a plant protein over a animal protein every time we eat. Besides, choosing to get our protein from a plant-based foods will lowers our overall intake of dietary cholesterol and unhealthy saturated fats. Don’t be fooled, there lots of vegetables that have some form of protein content, but the plant based proteins that come from soy and quinoa are considered to be complete proteins.
