Students will have an easier time transitioning from middle school to high school if they have a growth mindset, work with others in learning, and avoid procrastination. If students follow these main points when transitioning, their tradition into high school career will be easy, stress free, and enjoyable. Having a growth mindset when transitioning into high school will make learning easier because it widens students view on learning and makes learning easier. Carol Dweck tells us that in a growth mindset, people believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work. "One of the main advantages of working with others is that you can benefit from the skills of others that you may not have yourself" (working). When students are searching for a study group, the one thing they should look for is if the study group has skills the student does not, the student can benefit from these new skills greatly. Working with others also states students who most struggle on certain topics should find a learning group that can help them be successful. There are many different resources students can use to help make the transition easier and less stressful. Study shows students have more trouble transitioning into high school then any other schooling transitions (transitions). This is hard for most students because, like stated before, peer pressure is the main fear students deal with when transitioning. Students that also deal with the fear of meeting new people also find it more troubling. Students will find the classes more difficult because the new teachers will usually have higher academic expectations than middle school teachers will (transition). These teachers are only preparing these students for college leveled classes. There are many different recourses students can use to help them with their transition into high school. "Teachers, counsellors, doctors, parents, and friends can help make a students transition into high school easier" (transitions). Students who have weaker social skills should really reach out for any help that they can, this will help them build the confidence they need to feel good about who they are as a person.
