Time never stops and with each tick of the clock you are either one click closer or further to obtaining your goals. Time is a unique and precious resource that you need in order to do your work, accomplish your goals, spend time with your loved ones, and enjoy everything that life has to offer. The amazing thing is we all get the same amount of time each day and some people do so much more with the gift of time they receive. The non-achievers just comfortably sit in there state of complacency, while time quickly drips by like a leaky faucet that can’t be plugged. Procrastination is the opposite of getting things done and is a natural enemy to success. Procrastination is described as putting lower priority tasks before higher ones. To be skilled in time management, you must learn how to defeat procrastination and learn the power of getting things done now. Procrastination causes low self esteem and is a major source of stress and guilt due to not doing what needs to be done at the time it needs to be done. The undone task will consume your thoughts, thus taking your focus off what really matters which is achieving your goals. If you do it now you will get done before the mental barriers fill your mind. You will not have time to make excuses. Get your task over with now before you convince your self not to. So, when it comes to activity the first step is to start. One way to start is to tell yourself you will just do it for 15 minutes, get a timer and time yourself, once you get started you will usually wind up finishing or working on it longer than expected. Break large jobs into smaller ones, this will help you manage time and will keep you from feeling overwhelmed. Develop a sense of urgency by establishing a deadline which will motivate you to take action. Learn to make decisions quickly; indecision is a root cause of procrastination. If you can’t decide on a course of action you are will be delayed in action or may not take action at all. Associate not acting and not completing your task with pain and avoid the pain of not completing your task.
