Testing anxiety is a fear of failing that you feel before or while taking an important test such as the STAAR. Testing anxiety can really have a negative effect on your performance on a test. No matter how good a student does in school, testing anxiety can affect their performance on the STAAR Test in a negative way. It just is not fair that these students fail a test as important as a STAAR Test because of something they do not have control over. Either if they fail or get a low grade, the student 's confidence in themselves would drop to the point where they do not think they will be able to pass any major test like the STAAR Test. The reason that a test like the STAAR can destroy a student 's confidence, is because this test determines if you move on not only in school, but on to the next chapter of life after school. If a student fails a STAAR Test, they can be held back in a class and possibly not even graduate on time. Also, a lot of students that fail a major test like the STAAR drop out of school because they feel embarrassed that they failed the test. I also know this from personal experience. In middle school, I failed the english state test and i was really disappointed in myself. I was so embarrassed that I did not want to go to school because I knew my fellow classmates would ask me how I did on the test. I ended up not going to school for the last two weeks of school. I also didn’t go to the school dance or school trip. I was just too embarrassed to go to school after i failed the test. I am sure that I am not the only person that has ever felt like that. That 's why important test such as the STAAR Test should not be required to be taken by students because it can really destroy their self-confidence. There are many other reasons that support why students shouldn’t be required
